Blinking or not? this is the first time in maybe 10 yeats i've done anything remotely decoratey for Christmas...i put out these fairly cool luminarias (candles in bags only these are lights in little plastic frames with plastics bags). they're white, but i'd do color, too. red or green only, though. and no blinking. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? bah 5. If you decorate for your holiday, when do you put your decorations up? after the first week of December 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? pretty much any one i didn't have to cook. ok, ok...my mom's oyster dressing 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? the time my cousin Cliff broke out the light bulb in my grandmother's garage with a dinner roll. teach them to put the "kid's table" out of sight and earshot... 8. I also like chasing lights 4. Do you hang mistletoe? nope, but it hangs out in the tree-tops here all winter, so does that count? 5. If you decorate for your holiday, when do you put your decorations up? Depends. Usually sometime after Thanksgiving. Closest to the wire has come about three days before xmas 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? hmm....I like so many! I guess ham or roast beef is good for xmas 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? I'll have to think about that 8. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? driving down to my mum's parents and all her siblings (she was one of 5) and all their kids would be there, they had like 10+ beds set up in a huge garagey room out the back..so on xmas morning it was busy, and noisy, but heaps of fun 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? my "best friend" (who i since realised was a bitch, and is the cause for many of my mental issues) told me, but i didn't believe her. so i stayed up late on christmas eve and watched from the top loungeroom (because the tree was in the bottom loungeroom, and there was a kind of split-level thing going on), and i saw my parents come out with the presents and that was that. god i hate that bitch. 9. --We get soy versions of both (which are freaking fantastic), but I guess it depends on whether I'm feeling cold or hot at the time. 2. I try to find the blinky bulb and put it where I can get it so I can yoink it out if it's annoying. 4. Hot chocolate. 2. If Santa came to your house (or comes to your house) does he wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Just leaves them under the tree. When we were younger, me and my bro, my father dressed up as Santa and deliverd our gifts. 3. Colored lights on tree/house or all white? Blinking or not? On my moms house then, since I live in an apartment nowadays... They are white and non-blinking. 4. Do you hang mistletoe? No, not a swedish tradition that. 5. If you decorate for your holiday, when do you put your decorations up? At the first of Advent. Advent is the four sundays before christmas. Don't know if that is a swedish thing only... 6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? The christmas ham... A swedish thing... 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Dad as Santa.... with his black beard behind the white beard of the Santa-mask and wering his ungly red long underwear and blue workman HellyHansen sweater.... Ah, the memories... 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? See above... When I saw the black beard... But my dad continued to play Santa for years after that still. 9. What is your gifting tradition like? (for example, Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? , Do you get one each night of Hanukkah? etc...) In Sweden the big evning is at Christmas Eve. We eat all food, all candy and open all the gifts the same evning. 10. If Santa or Father Christmas or the Grinch(!?) visits you, what kind of cookies does he/she/it get set out for him/her? In Sweden it is tradition to put out a bowl of rice pudding with a little butter in the middle. It has to do with us having a whole other Santa-tradition here... 11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? In Sweden there is a small Disney show callde Donald Duck and friends that has been on TV on Christmas Eve since well, since TV started in Sweden.
