I think I'll be okay as long as it's just Tam and Zoom who keep changing their names. Yeah, I know. Now the rest of 'em will start... Sigh.

quite a few of "the rest of 'em" do it, too. and they started some time ago. but if you want to think the world revolves around you, go ahead. it kinda locates you as a friend of Sara... Razz

i can only speak for myself when i say, not all of us think that way. that's not to say i don't wish the world revolved around me, but the notion that it actually does was squashed long long ago...

Hey, MY world revolves around me... Maybe if someone else's world revolved around me, I wouldn't need to feel that way. But... yeah.

Wanna get into philosophy? Heh - well, I don't. Bah!

All of the Okee talk made me think of a favorite song....

Well I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it

Well I never been to England
But I kinda like the Beatles
Well, I headed for Las Vegas
Only made it out to Needles
Can you feel it
It must be real
It Feels so good
Oh, feels so good

Well I never been to Heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

Whoa, I never been to Spain
But I kinda like the music
Say the ladies are insane there
And they sure know how to use it
They don't abuse it
Never gonna lose it
I can't refuse it

Well I never been to Heaven
But I been to Oklahoma
Well they tell me I was born there
But I really don't remember
In Oklahoma, not Arizona
What does it matter
What does it matter

gnaw on that Wink

Broken Arrow...or is that Elk City? It makes a huge difference actually, lol. Studied opera at OCU.

Ah yes, Citiplex. Near the praying hands. Was that the CFS fun?

I usually worked downtown. I had an office at Sixth and Main and worked part time as a legal contactor for a certain energy company. I was in the BOk tower when it got flooded in December 05. I was actually in the sub-sub basement in an area without emergency lights. Fun days.

Lol.

I detect from your subterfuge that you worked for Williams Inc. Didn'tcha. Didn'tcha... hehehe. I'd keep it a secret too.

(for those of you who don't know, Williams was like the Enron of Oklahoma - only not QUITE so crooked).

Oral (god, what a name) Roberts moved the praying hands to the entrance of his univ. when he sold the Towers (that Jesus himself had told him to build... wouldn't he go to hell for that? It'd be like Noah leasing his Ark for pleasure-cruises...).

They also took off the three stick-on crosses that used to adorn the golden stripes on the building.

I swear. A "faith-healing" hospital. In a city already saturated with hospitals. And didn't it occur to ANYone else that a "faith-healer" shouldn't NEED a "hospital"???

What's it mean "was that the CFS fun?"...

Lol. Life in the South.

Now, Tam and Shawn (I figger I've got a 50% chance of being right) retract the claws and make up. Geez. Smile

And Whiskey - that's one of mine, too.

Last I checked, I counted you among my friends. Razz bitch. Big Grin

And Cheno is the exception to the rule. It's all you lesser mortals from OK that fail to register on my give-a-shit-o-meter.

Meanwhile, on a remote Pacific island -

My ex-boss WON his CONTRACT (to run the weather station out here)!!

That means I'll be changing jobs - to one that I'll enjoy a LOT more. I can go back to being "all-around head computer-geek" instead of "Software Engineer III". I'll get to take stuff apart! Smile

AND - now that all the SGI machines are gone - it's a Linux Place!

Oops. Peed my pants. YEAH I'm excited... **manly squeee*

There is actually, both Jack and I post on the board where the inventor of the manly squee posts.

Shh, don't let on otherwise, it helps them feel all big and masculine. :eyeroll: Big Grin

Actually, I worked for Key, they pimped me out to Williams. No benefits. Smile FWIW that job helped me survive for a couple of years and actually the software database I worked on probably helped me catch on a hell of a lot faster than most people at my current job. Well...that or I'm just that brilliant. Razz

CFS I think was Commercial Financial Services or something similar. They were basically collections. Fairly high paying job, they recruited people from all over the Southwest. Didn't actually work. And all that money that was magically infused into the local economy went the way of all magic.

Kind of like Williams....all those high paying jobs went bye-bye. smash

Ah yes, I believe a collections company had one or two of the floors of CitiPlex. But no - I worked for what was then a "mom and pop" military contractor involved with missile defense. Heh. Yeah, in Oklahoma.

the company started off doing weather stuff from airplanes... but the owner also leased airplanes... so he leased one to himself (businessmen - you know I hate 'em) and got a gov't contract to put a fancy hi-zoot infra-red camera on it (purpose to track missiles through space) and pretty soon that took over and the "Atmospheric Science" department became a small part of the operation. That's where I was - with the weather guys.

We used to be over across the river at the Jenks Airport - but they kicked us outta there, too. Smile

Anyway - it was more fun working with scientists than it is now with engineers and managers. Bah. Scientists don't CARE "how" you do something - as long as it gets done. Engineers and managers don't care what you get done - as long as you do it their way. Smile

Yeah - I stole the "manly squee". Squee! I'm so bad! And I'll ignore that other comment from Sara about masculinity. She's having her visit from Aunt Flo, after all.
