Been listening to the funky sounds of the Greyboy Allstars this week. Plus, some Julie Doiron. And a collection of Brazilian electronica/funk/hip hop tracks that's really excellent.

And some new Keren Ann tracks from some magazine cds and her myspace.

Girlfriend by Avril Levigne

It's going to be my summer song. Why do I hate that I love this song so much?

As i await the new Keren Ann cd in the mail, i been groovin' to some reissues of Sly & the Family Stone. Those are some killer albums! The reissues are pretty cheap and all have bonus tracks.

Also love the Charlotte Gainsbourg album, 5:55 and the new Kings of Leon- it's very good though no song on it is as addictive as "Molly's Chamber" from their first album.

Been playing the new Keren Ann, and it's great. It's more slow tempo than i'd expected but her voice is showcased throughout so i can't complain. She's supposed to be writing a score to a horror movie next, hmmm, i didn't know they was filming my life story?!?!

Also diggin' the newest Dinosaur Jr and Ry Cooder.

A great electronica-prog semi-instrumental album by the Battles called Mirrored.

Also loving the newest post-rock instrumental offering from the Grails, Burning Off Impurities.

And an anthology of songs from the Harvest label, Breath Of Fresh Air: A Harvest Records Anthology 1969 to 1974, which features some really great artists like Michael Chapman, Roy Harper, Quartermass, early Pink Floyd, etc.

Listening to lately:

the new Wilco album, Sky Blue Sky, probably my fave Wilco cd. Slower tempo but still a strong undercurrent to every track.

Betty Davis reissues. No, not the actress, sillies, this Betty was married to Miles Davis for a short spell and later released (at least) two brilliant hot & nasty funk albums.

MV & EE with the Bummer Road's latest record. They sound like On the Beach era Neil Young meets a very droney My Morning Jacket.

It's all about Julia Murney. I have a Murney playlist that I keep interspersing with my "Chenoweth Hawtness" one.

Heh. I like blondes. Who can sing. Big Grin

Picked up the new Magnolia Electric Co. and Okkervil River cds today. Both on a local label. Looking forward to hearing them.
