Allright. So i think the virginity question was a little too easy. This is a real ChallengE! those of you who chose to attempt it... same rules apply as the first challenge. So much so... i'm copying and pasting them here:

quote:
all right. Here it is... in a poem, prose, rhyming or not, artistic or not.. romantic or dramatic...long or short. whatever! capture your thoughts, fears, feelings, first experiences. but the main theme of whatever you write has to be your Personal Philosophy! what rule(s) do you live by? What do you feel so passionately about it's changed your life, or shapes your decisions. Something about when you suddenly said "this is my boundary, or lack of. this is what life is all about for me" the force that leads you. just... what is the meaning of life for you so far.

good luck. may the muse be with you. he he. yeah... write that one. Wink

ps... does anyone else feel a definite "star wars/yoda" vibe? hmmmm

Well Yes precious...
I had a life altering moment which allowed me to have a personal philosophy.
{Before that I had no personality what-so-ever}

SmileStory @ me

Youy really need to at least skim that ^
for any of this to make any sense.

Geexe ..Now I dont know how to describe my 'Philosophy'.
that event allowed me to see the world in a new light.
In a Coherent fashion....Im ALOT harder to trick now with false ideaologys,
False arguments...

I saw right thru GWBs War on Iraq, not 100% but close. His persoanl reason is Saddam made a fool out of his Daddy.. poor reason for alot of American soldiers & Iraqi citizens to die..?
Is it not..??
The path we are on may hold the beginning of the end of America as a world power.
I cant exactly describe how ....
But I can see it as a Real possibilty.

I have gained an insight into seeing things in a more complete & inter-connected way.

Its not difficult, but its nearly impossible to describe because western culture(maybe all cultures)are so far away from this
'Hidden' truth...
Which is really just the Obvious looked at from the correct point of view.

In a Nutshell summary:

Everything matters because everything is connected.
Everything is effected or caused by a portion of everything else..

Nothing occurs in Isolation.

So we should stop imagining:
its okay to do x or y & we will get away with it later down the road.
It wont make a difference.
we can just get it right later when we feel like & it will all turnout as weve been told.
This has been the Biggest lie to our kids told during the 20th century..

I still hope to post more @ this
Even if I am just talkin to myself...
Smile

Loved, Not alone

Nearing death, with darkness
All around
I knew I was alive
But where was I?
Alone.

Many years later I opened a door
I stepped into the river,
I took a chance
To be loved by you.

Maybe it was my culture
Maybe it was the truth
Maybe it was that all those years
I was seeking beauty thinking it was love.

Your love turned out to be beauty
and covered me-
And I know that I shall never see the darkness
Alone again.

To You II
by Kate Quinn (c) 2004

From the day i met you
a thing I never dreamed I'd do
I never was the same.
You've opened up my soul
Gave me truth
Where once there was a game.

I don't know why but I just feel
That it is you, that this is real.
It's not some trumped up scam
Set in motion by a pervert
Who gets off
On seeing me putty in his hands.

i don't know if we'll ever meet
In real life, that would be sweet
But I am satisfied
With the emails and your smiles
They alone
Are all I need to comfort my mind.

Thank you honey.
Thank you for your love, your friendship
and your time.
Thank you.Smile

hey! good job guys and gals! at-a-way to tackle a hard topic... or, in this case, a scollers inability to come up with a coherent challenge. Anyhoo. i thought all your poems were interesting in that i kinda didn't know what to expect even though i was the one who set the challenge and the "theme". very cool. some of you were traditional, and other's completely free stylin it. i really like to see what comes out of a writers head when there's no form required. kinda like the boneless chicken farm. what the heck does that mean? eh he... i'm losin it. thanks for participating....

hu? wha? what do you mean where's MY poem... um... i didn't know what to write. Big Grin he he.... i'm a wuss and can't take a challenge. he he he he! thanks again!!!

in the spirit of the challenge, i promise to work up something new, but for now i re-submit for your perusal the first thing i ever posted in FF&P wich i think meets the challenge criteria as well as anything new i'll write...

ernst tinaja

to take a walk with Time
i retrace my steps to my place of power
with a friend,
no ordinary traveler,
whose power like my own
resides in places within,
untapped but waiting.

the desert hides its treasures
in plain sight
where anyone can find them.
the real search
as always, is for meaning.
why does this place call me?
why does its power draw me?

the desert’s Magic draws me,
its pull is strong.
so softly it calls,
and i cannot resist its song.
like morning kisses
soft as water,
yet who withstands the river in flood?

its song is Silence
like spaces between words,
like pauses after laughter
when only the joy remains,
as Moment becomes Memory
in the twinkling of a falling star,
precious in its brevity.

my days in the desert are always few,
as are the treasured times
spent sharing with my friend
the details of our lives
so full, too full, too empty
of the desert’s silent song,
of the peace its power promises.

the treasures of the desert,
so far removed yet so readily given,
must not spoil my vision
to the treasure harder found
in each day’s living.
Peace, more precious in the tempest
than within cathedral walls.

There are some really beautiful poems up in this challenge. Smile I must admit, I find it hard to answer the challenge with a new poem...when I know there's one that already answers it. So I'm taking my lead from zoom in that way. Wink

It's an older poem, but it's the force that drives me... the belief that I'm something more, something beautiful, and someone that deserves to feel that way. Some days, I don't believe this; some days, I do. It's been a constant battle within myself for years and years -- the idea of what is beauty, what is not...am I beautiful, am I not. People's desire to change the way I look can knock me down to the ground...but another person's desire to help me see that I'm beautiful the way I am can encourage me to get back up (because they can't pick me up-- I have to do it all on my own). It's a battle within me, and it's the force that drives me... to one day look at myself EVERY day and see someone beautiful, someone who deserves to be loved.

“Love Me Beautiful”

Past scars assure me I don’t deserve this
No longer bleeding but painful nonetheless
Run my fingertips along them, memories return
My heart drops and my skin burns.

Maybe you could cool me
Maybe you could soothe me
Make me feel like something other than a fool
And more like something beautiful.

Keep speaking to me in that hushed soft tone
Assuring me you’ve discovered the unknown
The me behind the sunshine and the veil
Keep breathing me in, I want you to inhale

How much you’re my comfort and my hope
The way your touch helps me feel, helps me cope
You make me see maybe I was never the fool
But was always somehow beautiful.

Your eyes look past the reflection I see
They draw me in, draw me out, make me believe
If you wrap your arms around me in that perfect fit
Maybe slowly, my heart will begin to admit

That I need you to love me
Make me feel more than worthy
For with others, I’d always been the fool
But with you...I’m someone beautiful.

Zoom I really loved that one and I'm enjoying it here again. These lines have stayed with me for a long time

quote:
the desert hides its treasures
in plain sight
where anyone can find them.
the real search
as always, is for meaning.

Gabber this really spaeaks to me and flows beautifully. It would make a great song. These lines work as a refrain:

quote:
Maybe you could cool me
Maybe you could soothe me
Make me feel like something other than a fool
And more like something beautiful.

I've never seen this one before so it's a treat that you posted it again.

Nanzar,

Y'know...I think you're right-- it probably really would make a great song. Preferably with guitar, but alas, I'm guitar-challenged it seems. Razz But after you mentioned that, I went back and read it and I could "hear" it as a song as well. Not many of my actual POEMS can do that. I write lyrics TO music a lot, but taking a poem and writing music to it is rare.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Smile When looking for it, and reading it over again, I felt it flowed smoothly and just expressed everything so well. *laughs* Y'know, I was looking over old poems of mine from 2001-2002 or so, and I was like, "I used to write some pretty good stuff! What happened?!" LOL. No really, it's like I just wrote better back then. I'm not sure why...

I'm glad you hadn't seen it before, was a bit worried about that-- I wasn't sure if I had posted it up here or not... there actually ARE quite a few poems I haven't posted up here for various reasons, so I never really know half the time. Smile I'm glad you enjoyed it though, thanks for the response, Nanzar.
