I'm gonna take up tiki's challenge, since no-one else has.

To refresh, it was:
1.Spiraling towards insanity
2.Free flowing thoughts
3.OPEN

DOWN

Red rashes and torents of sticky brown streak through my cortex
Howling torents billow and blow chasing around my sagging frame
Scratching at the vibrations I try to free them
Crawling under my nails like frenzied insects feeding
Torments straight from yesterday's nightmares beckon hungrily
Tracing rivulets down these sallow cheeks
Dribbling towards the chalky dust
Now red and wet
Beneath my soles
Follow them
Down

Okay, how about,

1. The ocean, the sea, or some body of water.
2. Haiku
3. Open

The coy pond has mysteries
it's colors swirl by
tickling the surface rings

Drops merge on a leaf
reflecting the fountains tiers
against a blue sky

Waves rise like horses running
in a bubbly storm
against the raging current

Water bends gently
under the bugs tiny legs
never giving way

~~~~~~
I've been doing some video of different kinds of water so these images came to mind right away. I wish I could show you some of it, but the files are quite big.
Here is one shot from the coy pond:
THIS ONE'S FOR TIKI.....
does this live up to your challenge? [Frown] .... i 'bout went insane trying to write this thing... i hOpE YOu FReAKin LikE It!!! [Wink] seriously though. i kept writing crap and more CRAP... but i knew i wouldn't calm down till i finally wrote somethin down and posted. [Wink] so here it is.... insanity--just couldn't put it into words--for that, thanks... very cool. and i think this is a subject i may think about for quite a while-cause i really am STILL not toO thrilled with this, but ARGY said "POST AND BE DAMNED!".
Escaping Long Enough To Tell You This
Im lying down with my eyes closed.
Back to my bed, face to the ceiling.
The steady grain of my breath
In through my nose
Out through my mouth
this air in my room is like water
And it burns.
Im empty,
So much like the silence around me.
And I want to be filled
With anything but
This nightmarish confusion
Swirling about my head
Willing an escape
In any direction.
My comforter brings no comfort.
My slumber brings no rest.
If crying will break the monotony
I want it.
If yelling will kill the restlessness
I want it.
If hope will save me now
Ill look for wherever I left it last.
Nothing makes sense.
24 years later, nothing makes sense.
It won't in a decade
It won't in a lifetime
And insanity?
is the quiet.
Continuing to spin in this nightmare,
With every breath,
Leaving me expressionless,
Because Ive finally died on the inside.
Or close enough
I've given up--
Cause I have nothing left to say.
---- AND I'M SPENT! [Wink] .... whew...
I thought of so many things but in the end I returned to this:
Then and Now
truck stop parking lot so many summers ago
the heat and diesel fumes mingle
shimmering atop the asphalt
sweat pours from my furrowed brow
blood runs from my knees
forming slender red rivers
determined to ride free
I get up and start again
my brother shouts, "ride! keep pedaling! ride!"
he races to catch up with me
I wobble and weave
dodging pot holes, trying to find my balance
we ride side by side
giant smiles swallow our faces
pain endured
the lesson learned
Oh, that's just beautiful.
I remember those tough first bike riding experiences (including the gravel rash).
You took me right back there, le.
Thanks. [Smile]
