Pre-show. So totally shallow for the first few minutes.

What the hell is Ms. Swank wearing? It looks like an early 80s shower curtain.

Renee Zellweger....why does she persist with the brunette dye job? It makes her look 15 years older than she is.

Monologue not so crisp...I expected a bit more.

Halle Berry...please cut your hair?

Art Direction--Halle's star is definitely falling, isn't it?

Renee Zellweger seems subdued.

Congrats to Morgan Freeman....nice classy speech.
Why are they playing him off with the theme from Star Trek?

Cate Blanchette handing out the make up Oscar. She's in the audience to hand out the awards. I guess make-up artists aren't important enough to accept them on stage.

I don't speak French, but I don't think Beyonce can sing it either. Maybe she's singing it in Quebecois.

OH here's the obligatory animated bit where some actor pretends that he's really sharing the stage.

Seeing as all the nominees are on stage, I wonder if they're really expected to react to the little animated woman. They are costume designers, not actors people!

oh please let me play too! Smile

I am not sure about this whole getting-the-nominees-all-on-the-stage-then announcing-the-winner thing. It's bad enough that they show the losers as the winner is announced but when they were in those little boxes you can't so much see their diappointed overzealous nods and clapping for the winner. By parading them up on the stage then saying "okay you people lost". that's not so good. At least do it for the acting catagories and make them ACT like they are not disappointed. But, no. they are only doing it for technical catagories.

Okay. End of rant.

And the award for the most unexpected use of the words "cheesy" and "uber" in an acceptance speech goes to... Cate Blanchett.

Smirk Morgan , did you play-by-play the Thanksgiving Day parade here for us one year? Was that you?

Guilty...I was the instigator of the 2003 Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade commentary.

You were an hour ahead of me and gave me some lovely stuff to look for. *G*

Best Documentary---all stage, poor bastards.

I admit it, I've not seen one of these...nor did I have much interest in seeing them.

Does that make me shallow? Oh, wait, we established that.

"Born into Brothels" SWOTS can only approve.

Tally of how many winners make reference to how heavy Oscar is: 2

(Morgan freeman feigned almost dropping it, the doc winners just outright said it)

Kirsten Dunst and Orlando Bloom. He's so purty...Kristen's looking a little over processed with the hair though.

Film editing...OB and KD's star is holding just steady.

I think Kirsten must be particularly fragrant this evening. Orlando seemed to keep trying to smell her.
"Gee, your hair smells terrific."

Counting Crowes....I dislike CC quite a bit. I'm not sure when it happened. I think it was when I was in a bar and the band covered Mr. Jones and Me and I realized how craptastic that song was a decade after the fact.

I remember how I used to go to the used CD store and pick up CC and put it back down. My "is this a future classic" sense was working.

Wow...Adam D has NOT aged well...good call Coutney Cox. At least it's not Beyonce...we'll get her twice more tonight though.

Hillary Swank just leaned over to whisper to her hubby "I can't believe they thought that was going to be funny...why is Adam Sandler up there?"
