Lucy Lawless on Celebrity Duets

Duets is a new show produced by Simon Cowell, who is best-known for his role in American Idol. Similiar to Dancing with Celebrities, Duets takes established singing stars and pairs them with with celebrities who are normally outside the music industry. The show will follow the professional singers as they instruct their celebrity partners, choose songs and perform duets in front of a panel of judges and a live studio audience on Thursday nights. Viewers will vote on their favorites, and ther results will be shown on Friday nights. Contestants are competing for charity. Information from TV.com

Lucy News - "Duets" Is Confirmed

Lucy has confirmed her involvement in the new reality show Celebrity Duets which was mentioned by TDS Internet Services News on 27 July 2006. The show will have professional singers partnered with celebrities outside the music industry to perform duets in front of a live studio audience. Reality TV has never met Lucy/Xena fans yet so I hope they are ready for the onslaught <g> It will start 29 August 2006.


I'm assuming we'll never get this show here, but if possible i would like to work out a trade off with someone.. episodes on tape or dvd (if they can do that) for tim tams and other aussie treats

so LL is billed as an "outside celebrity" and not a singer...she's a ringer!!! watch her win the whole thing.

if she doesn't, she should bust out the chakram and kill 'em all!!

It'd be nice if we did get it, but I doubt it. We'll just have to make do with 'It Takes Two' which was fine until the delightful Kate Ritchie was eliminated, while stupid Sarah whats-her-name is still in it -_- Damn it, she doesn't sing well, Guy Sebastian sings most of the song for her, and the little skanks who vote are just voting for him anyway! And now she's in the final two. I hope Erika Heynatz wins, even though I'm not entirely sure I know who she is.

Erm, anyway, back to the point.. I support Ame's proposition of videos 100% Now I won't actually do anything to contribute to her cause, but I do plan on swiping the tapes from her at some point.

Unless of course some website uploads videos of Lucy's performances, in which case I won't need Ame at all. Ahahaha!

Have no fear. I have the technology. I can make DVDs or VHS and send them to Oz.

I could make DVD's I just couldn't replicate them.

As requested by Ame, a play by play...

SPOILERS ABOUT LUCY'S FIRST SONG BELOW

Each person sings 2 songs tonight. Lucy opened the show looking blonde and FABULOUS if a little nervous. Her first duet was with Michael Bolton. She sang "Time Love and Tenderness" (?)
Overall good comments by the judges. Marie Osmond suggested that she "relate to Bolton more" (why????). David Foster said she picked a great song and did well. I have no idea what Little Richard said. Seriously.

I am not 100% sure of the premise for this show. Do they get voted off? I need to go study the official site, I guess.

Off to watch more. Will try to post again after LL's second number.

update...

4 more celebrities have "dueted".

Aside from the tap dancing kid from "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air" who did well on his song, Lucy is KILLING the competition.
I fear, however, that the show itself is KILLING Fox's already sketchy network reputation.Ugh.
Still, because I am a loyal fan and also under fear of death by Ame if I do not capture evey moment on DVD as well as in this thread , I will carry on and watch Lucy's second song.

Oh, and someone does in fact go home tonight. I can only hope it's...oh nevermind...I'll tell you later.

another update...

It's no coincidence that so far the only 3 performers that have not made my ears bleed are Lucy, Alfonso (Fresh prince's cousin dude") Ribero and Jai ("Queer Eye") Rodriguez. They've all been in Broadway musicals.
That poor little squeaky gymnast never stood a chance.
