Actually, Axel it was awful !!! I think so many Xena-fans tuned in hoping for some thing decent. It was one of the most amateurish movies I ever sat all the way thru. Why is it easier to fool the masses than it is to convince them that they have been fooled...? | |||

Interestingly, though, it was the highest-rated made-for-Sci-Fi movie they've ever aired (not counting mini-series, Stargate episodes, etc.) in their 12-year history. The Sci-Fi execs were just ecstatic, and bragged about it in articles in USA Today and the NY Times. As a result of its success, the director was offered a gig doing "Raptor Island 2: Raptor Planet," which he passed along to the 2nd Unit Director, Gary Jones (who did several XWP episodes too.) Ted Raimi stars in that one BTW, along with Musetta Vander (Ilianis from "Siege of Amphipolis") and Vanessa Angel (who almost played Xena. ) Instead he (Josh Becker) is working on another original script for them which will probably re-team Renee and Bruce. And of course Bruce directed a follow-up, "Man w/ the Screaming Brain," using the same producers, editor, cinematographer, 2nd unit director, composer, FX people and many of the same cast (minus the fake beards hopefully! ) which he's now showing in selected theatres around the country, plugging his best-selling book. So it worked out happily for everyone involved. Oh, and the AA dvd is going to be released by Anchor Bay on 10/4/05, and will feature lots of extras, including commentary from Bruce and Josh.
