ArgeauxThe Last King of Scotland
This is a good film but, like
Million Dollar Baby, is not an easy watch.
I was expecting a very violent film and wasn't disappointed. What I wasn't expecting was the extremely slow way in which the violence built, which somehow made it all the more shocking once it was in front of my eyes.
Forrest Whittaker's take on Idi Amin is brilliant, as one would expect. I don't know the name of the young actor who plays the Scottish doctor in the film, but he has the right blend of arrogance and naievity to pull off the role effectively.
I wouldn't call this a must see, but it is certainly one of the better dramas I've seen in a while. Shades of
The Crying Game.

SaraI saw this movie this weekend. Stunning and epic as I expected.
The young actor is James McAvoy, he was in Children of Dune and he was Mr. Tumnus in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. Stellar actor.
It was just as brutal as I thought it would be but seeing Forrest's portrayal of Idi Amin was most def worthy of an Oscar.
I wouldn't buy it but I appreciated it for what it was.
