whatevuh became of BrucE Braless? mr. movie reviewer get back here & pump sum life inta these forums! Anyhoos. Twilight is about Bella (Kristen Stewart, future xc wife) who moves from Aridzona to Gloomy, Washington to live with her pop the cop. At her new school, she meets palish boy who's from a vamp fam. Vampire laws are bent here...and there...and there...again. This is a silly movie but the romance works. Local town stuff works as does pale face vamp fam. The action storyline (i ain't telling what it is) does not work. Woulda been better without it. Let The Right One In is Swedish film where the vampire stuffage is really secondary to other themes. 12 yr old Oscar (Kare Hedebrant) is a loner, bullied & kid killer wanna-be. Then new chick Eli (Lina Leandersson) moves in his apt. building. She's been 12 for a very long time. Eli has her Renfield & she's quite the it. These 2 kids got lotta screen pazazzaz & they click just right. This is the best vampire movie these blood red eyes have seen since the remake of Nosferatu. It's not a Hollywood film, no no's. It'll leave ya thinkin & wantin to see it again. Winner of vamp flicks on dvd recently: Let The Right One In by a long Transylvanian mile.

I am one of the few people who actually thinks the first Twilight is excellent. The chemistry between Kristen and Robert is palpable. I like some of the playful ideas, like the baseball game. The baddies are very charismatic. I also enjoyed the family dynamic of the vampires. --- I loved Let the Right One In, too. I stated watching horror movies a couple of years ago, after avoiding them for most of my life. This dark tale of young love was very touching. Again, the chemistry between the leads sold it. The atmosphere of the entire piece really suited the idea that these two children were very alone, and in need of someone to love. It was cold, and dynamically lit. --- I wouldn't compare these films are they are from two different genres, even though the central subject is the same. One is trying to fit the mainstream, and the other is trying to sit outside it. They almost make nice companion pieces to each other. ~~~~~~~~~~ ![]()
