Blinking or not? this is the first time in maybe 10 yeats i've done anything remotely decoratey for Christmas...i put out these fairly cool luminarias (candles in bags only these are lights in little plastic frames with plastics bags). they're white, but i'd do color, too. red or green only, though. and no blinking. 4. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? pretty much any one i didn't have to cook. ok, ok...my mom's oyster dressing 7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? the time my cousin Cliff broke out the light bulb in my grandmother's garage with a dinner roll. teach them to put the "kid's table" out of sight and earshot... 8. (for example, Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? , Do you get one each night of Hanukkah? etc...) we do Christmas in the morning before lunch (main meal) on Christmas at my Mom's. we have no particular tradition in our own household 10. I love an excuse to have anything seafood, and we usually do on xmas day. but i also love the leg ham too... so i'll say everything  7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? driving down to my mum's parents and all her siblings (she was one of 5) and all their kids would be there, they had like 10+ beds set up in a huge garagey room out the back..so on xmas morning it was busy, and noisy, but heaps of fun 8. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? i really wanted the boardgame "the white unicorn." i'd opened all my presents and it wasn't there. so i ran out to my treehouse to look in there, and there it was, all by itself  . that was pretty cool 8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? my "best friend" (who i since realised was a bitch, and is the cause for many of my mental issues) told me, but i didn't believe her. so i stayed up late on christmas eve and watched from the top loungeroom (because the tree was in the bottom loungeroom, and there was a kind of split-level thing going on), and i saw my parents come out with the presents and that was that. god i hate that bitch. 9. I try to find the blinky bulb and put it where I can get it so I can yoink it out if it's annoying. 4. That afternoon at dinner I overheard all of the relatives congratulating my dad on what a great job he did building it. As a child used to open one gift on the Eve and it was always pajamas or a robe or stuffed animal and it was always from my parents. The rest were opened Christmas morning (from Santa). Gifts from relatives and friends exchanged and opened as we saw them (either on the eve or day). I still go to my parents' house on Christmas morning to exchange gifts with them. Also, gifts are opened first then stockings. 10. We used to have coloured lights and white lights on the tree, but the white lights don't seem to work anymore. I think I used to set out homemade cookies for Santa...my mom made these awesome cookies one time that were real big and had green and red icing on them. The only thing that disappointed me was my parents took out the food and all cuz they didn't want her getting all gross inside with the food...altho that's the whole fun of a doll like that. 14. Giving, and the letting go of cynical attitudes...i always notice that fades away around the holidays...people just catch something, some kind of happiness, and I really wish it could last all year round. And as someone who had a lot of stress and disfunction growing up, one thing about my family...they did Christmas AWESOMELY. Everything seems to fall into place around then. 15.
