so last Saturday was Rollerball 2006, the annual end-of-season bash the TXRD throws for skaters, production staff and, much to my delight, sponsors. this year's theme was Super Heroes & Super Villians. le & i went as The Queen of Hearts & the Ace of Spades, respectively. i'm still not sure how that fit the theme (there were 2 other Queens of Hearts...so i guess maybe love conquers all...), but i just claimed my super power was that i could be either 1 or 11. and i had a stack of aces of spades in my hat so i could give people "my card" to avoid confusion (i also now have a number of 51-card decks if anyone is interested...).
needless to say it was a BLAST. i only took a few pix, but here they are. a lot of the costumes were NC17 at best, so i was reluctant to snap too many photos for fear of what might be in the background. my favorite was Punky Bruiser as the Rotten Tooth Fairy, though my pic didn't do justice to her costume. the details--miner's headlight, jar of rotten teeth, tool belt (including pliers, screwdriver, wrench & corkscrew ), stage blood up to her elbows--really made it awesome.
anyway...enjoy.This message has been edited. Last edited by: zoom,

you mean the 8 ft. long Queen's cloak we made completely by hand? crap...we worked two weeks on that thing. i was getting chummy with clerks at Hanncock Fabrics by the time it was done. le said we "darned" the whole thing. i said that cloak's not darned...that's a damned cloak!
and yeah, Shawn made it to the party uninvited--during the video clip of one of the award winners, Shawn was captured in the background scoping out the ever-interesting crowd.
i can safely say that party was attended by more pastie-wearing partiers than any i've ever been to. and then there was what Venis Envy was, or rather wasn't wearing--she wore a strategically positioned triangle of fake fur, a Viking helmet, and absolutley nothing else. mm hm...no lie.
