zoomhalloween-2002
hiding in the bushes
waiting for the children
they're not so easily scared
as we were
at that age
in a world that's daily scary
it's hard not to remember
we're not so easily moved
as we were
before this rage
it will be interesting to see if anyone gets what i'm trying to say here...

The XenatizerSamhuin
... trailed by the ones gone
... the ones to have left traces
... the ones to have made sense of it all
... to the ones to follow
... to live and give onto the ones who follow
Death as the dark side of our moon
Life as a brief glimpse into what never ceases
... to turn
... and move towards sense
... eventually
Senses
A hand carving a hip from the darkness
against the moon's light
An eye watching a loved rib cage
heaving against inevitability
A desire cutting a craved unity
moving with and gainst my wishes
Love in death
Death in love
Turn of the wheel
Fateless breath
Sense at last

Gabber*laughs* I think I'm disturbing myself with the poem I came up with for this challenge. What with Halloween being tonight and all, a...scary poem seems only fitting. Although I've never tried my hand at a "scary" poem, so if it sucks, ah well.
![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
But heh, it disturbs me at least...who knew I could write like that.
![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
Actually, maybe it's not that much of a surprise after all those thriller books I used to write...

==========
"Before Dawn" Whisper, scream I do not care
No one will hear you in my lair
Darkness impending, your light will be gone
For I am the hunter, you are the fawn
Run, just try, I want to see you fight
Oh how this would fill me with such delight
A chase is always rewarding when theres nowhere to go
Darting back and forth, to and fro
My web has caught you, stuck you are
Dont worry dear... Im not far
Youre in a corner you cant escape
Oh yes, I know, youre in real bad shape
...Oh, whats that I hear trick or treaters up above
Looking for some candy-coated love
A crooked grin for I must not make them wait
Ah, but when I return...
The pounding of your heart shall seal your fate.

The TrollI haven't seen Roger Morres new movie "Bowling for Columbine" but Oprah had him on today and it was really scary so here's my Halloween poem.
Halloween Costume
The gun goes off in my mind
in the hands of a man
in the dark
where I'm walking
and I know I'm in the wrong place
and the wrong time
wearing my crazy mask
dripping with the blood
of a thousand draculas.
30,000 deaths by guns in my country
some suicide, some accidents, some
lovers who lost their minds-
and that guy I fear
who wants to hurt me
even though he's never read my poems
or looked at my pictures of trees.
The game of horror is over
and we are the loosers.
Take off you paper costume
and get yourself a gun.

GabberI just wanted to say I really dig all the Halloween/scary poems in here.
zoom I'll take a swing at it, even though I'm prolly wrong.
![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
Are you refering to the fact that it's hard for kids to get scared of Halloween gimics now when they've seen the horrors of 9-11? That was the possibility that entered my head when I read it...and if not, I'm interested to hear what you meant. Very cool though.
Ully Very interesting... hmm... I think I still need to think over yours, hehe. Very good though, I dig that.
Nanzar *has to laugh* I think part of me is going "Ooh, that's good" and the other part of me is going "Okay, I'm disturbed now..."
![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
But that's prolly the goal you were aiming for, to disturb us, scary poems and all, and that did it...more the last line than anything else. But I understand too the fear of the "unknown" getting you in the night or daylight. I sometimes have that going on, and it freaks me out just a bit. I get the whole looking around and watching people thing, making sure I seem to be safe. However, in this day and age, how can one not be paranoid every once in a while?

<Buccaroo>You can't see it
but at times you can sure feel it.
It is not so much the noise
It is the lack of it.
The darkness leaves a mystery
One that only the bold investigate
Hoping they will find safty
only to find a locked gate.
Though the Owl hoots
and the wolf growls
no one wants to venture
into hells deepest bowels.

monsTHE SCARIEST THING ABOUT THIS POEM IS..... IT'S NOT SCAAAARY!!!
![[Razz]](tongue.gif)
so, you know.. whatever. its about halloween. hehe....
Costumed Truths The moon has a masquerade,
Of silver and eerie foreshadow,
Unlike the nightlight she usually is.
The stars don a semblance,
Of midnight isolation,
Unlike the hope they usually are.
Night is cloaked,
In a drapery of fear,
Unlike the release he usually is.
While silence dominates the mask
Of uncomfortable suspicion
Unlike the peace of her usual guise
This quartet saunters through the hours
Proudly parading their temporal façade
Accompanied by others
Dressing in what theyve never been
So goes the night of Halloween
Being what no one would ever tell you
Youve already been.
thanks for reading!

<False Hope>Went trick or treating when I was four
Asked for candy from door to door
Now I am twenty
can I have free candy?

Argeaux eyezoom - it's beautiful, hon, but I don't get it. Not as sharp as I used to be. Only think I could think of was September 11, but it doesn't seem to fit that. The person in the bushes sounds tres creepy.
The Xenatizer - that's just gorgeous! Brings out the dead to dance among us.
Gabber - I always suspected you had a touch of the serial killer in ya ...
This line sounds like Yoda, to me:
My web has caught you, stuck you are
Nanzar - this is very different for you. It feels a lot more like you're standing outside the poem, than within it.
I particularly LOVE this:
The game of horror is over
and we are the loosers.
Take off you paper costume
and get yourself a gun.Shivery delicious.
mons - dark, still and brooding imagery; how can you say this isn't scary?
Why are we all getting good at writing fatal final stanzas?
This quartet saunters through the hours
Proudly parading their temporal façade
Accompanied by others
Dressing in what theyve never been
So goes the night of Halloween
Being what no one would ever tell you
Youve already been. That could easily have been a poem on its own.
False Hope - you are both a credit to limerickers and to Edgar Alan Poe. Drool as always.
Thanks for taking up the challenge, folks. I think I'll give this one a miss, this time.
