Ok, so lately, I've been thinking a lot about accents, dialects, coloquialisms, and such things. I've been noticing for myself how diffrent my voice sounds from that of the people on TV (in the USA). I was wondering how other say things. Of course, I'm not going to put EVERY word up here, just a few that I tend to notice accents with the most. Here's how I'm going to do it:
Write the word out phoneticly. And say which syllables you have the word stresses on (if that part's too difficult, that's cool)
I'm just curious to see what kind of ansers I get with such a wide range of people here at the scrolls.
Oh! and say where you live. If you don't want to be too specific, just give a region of your country. Like, if I didn't want to say I lived in Iowa in the USA, I'd say I live pretty much right in the center of the USA.

We have this weird dip-thong here. It's hard to write it in. I tried my best. Most "ay" sounds are pronounced with a slight "e" at the end. So it's like a-whey-ee, only, the ee is really slight. If that makes sense.

Bathroom or Restroom depending on those present. People I know real well it's Bath, elders and people i don't know real well it's Rest.

Soda or Coke, usually Coke. I used to say pop too, but the Midwestern Nasal gets on my nerves too much when I say that so I try not to anymore. The whole soda or coke thing changes depending who i'm around. I have lots of friends who used to live in the south, and i unconciously call it Coke around them, and then when i'm around others I unconciously call it soda...it's wierd.

Also...
Do you find you pick up accents easily? Like, I know that if I'm around anyone from the south for very long, I start to pick up the accent in no time. Seriously, get me around them for an hour or two and I've got their accent. I haven't really been around diffrently-accented people except for southerners, so it might just have to do with them.
